Orthodontics for Children

A child with missing teethDoes your child have misaligned teeth and you are not quite sure what type of orthodontic treatment would work best? At Vision Dental, our team are highly experienced in treating children’s orthodontics, just like yours!

When you come in for your consultation with our Dentist, we will access your child’s bite, teeth and overall oral health. Once we have taken x-rays, we will be able to provide you with a treatment plan on how we can best treat your child with our orthodontic solutions.
Here’s how we do it while ensuring your child’s result is positive and stable.

Understanding the Basics of Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment for children is designed to correct poorly aligned teeth, bite problems, jaw issues, and facial imbalances all of which can get worse and cause problems down the road.

During your first visit with us, we’ll perform an exam that allows us to take a look at what’s going on with your child’s mouth and face. We’ll also take moulds of their teeth, X-rays and photos to help us get an inside look and properly understand their potential care plan.

To provide patients with the best service, we work with an Oral Myologist that helps to get rid of any bad habits that may have resulted in misaligned teeth to begin with—including incorrect tongue position, thrusting, poor chewing, swallowing and breathing patterns and lip seal among others.

Depending on the severity of your child’s needs, a typical course of treatment may last anywhere between 1-3 years.

Remember, investing in your child’s oral health early on can help offset or avoid future oral health expenses that may have been caused by misaligned teeth.
